The Bahamas is a year-round destination, but "best" depends on what you're optimizing for — good weather, lower prices, or fewer crowds rarely line up on the same dates.
The most reliable weather and the busiest, most expensive months. This is peak cruise season into Nassau too, so expect the busiest days downtown to coincide with multiple ships in port.
The Bahamas sits directly in the Atlantic hurricane belt, with peak activity typically August through October. That doesn't mean the whole season is a washout — most days are unaffected — but it's worth watching forecasts if you're booking during these months, and travel insurance is worth considering.
Late April to early June, and again in November, tend to bring a reasonable trade-off: lower prices and crowds than peak dry season, without being deep into the highest-risk hurricane months.
A rental car matters more outside peak season, not less — with fewer organized shuttles and tours running, having your own way to reach Cable Beach, downtown Nassau, and Paradise Island on your own schedule fills the gap.
